Access and Climate

Bundala National Park is accessible via two regular routes from Colombo. The coastal route via Galle, Matara, Tangalle, and Hambantota covers approximately 256 kilometers. Alternatively, the inland route via Ratnapura, Pelmadulla, Embilipitiya, and Hambantota is about 245 kilometers.

The park experiences a tropical and monsoonal climate, with a mean annual temperature of 27°C. Annual rainfall ranges from 900 mm to 1300 mm, with an extensive dry period from May to September, making it an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts throughout the year.
